"Life is a Party. Dress Like it." - LP Spring Fever

I know it's only January but warm weather must be coming soon! Why, you ask? Today I stopped by the Lilly store and was pleasantly surprised to see the first shipment of the spring line. Girls, it did not disappoint. The spring line is usually my favorite because they use more rich colors and also a bit of navy. Here's what is on my wish list. (Excuse the weird faces and mess in the background. I sent these to my sister and wasn't intending to put it on my blog, ha!)

The print to this dress is called "A Lilly State of Mind" and it has a patch for each state. Suuuper cute! And I'm not sure if you can tell from the picture, but there's a bow on one of the shoulders. It's a must for my closet.

I'm going to lots of weddings this summer and I think this would fit the bill perfectly. I can't get over the color.

This is a modified Elsa. I think I liked the fit of the Elsa better but I can't quite decide. Regardless, I'm drooling over this print and will definitely need to add it to my closet as well.

And how fun is this dress? I love the cutouts in the neckline. It reminds me of vintage Lilly. Perfection!

Eleven fun facts about moi:

(One) My birthday is on Tuesday the 24th! I'm ready to be 23... it's going to be a great year. I can just feel it.

(Two) Can it be Memorial Day yet? I'm embarrassed to admit this, but I missed my dresses so much I wore one around the house today for a few minutes.

(Three) I'm going to see Miranda Lambert on Saturday for my birthday and I. Can't. Wait. If you know me in real life, on twitter, or just from reading my blog you know I'm unashamed of my obsession. Seriously, it's going to be the best night ever! I'm sooo excited for the opening acts too. Chris Young is quickly becoming one of my new favorite artists. This is one of my favorite songs right now.

(Four) For the last give days I've been nannying a family of six kids. All by myself. Yep, you read that right. I'm seriously questioning motherhood, ha! It was the hardest thing I've ever done. I should tell some stories in another post for y'all.

(Five) My hair is finally, kind-of, sort-of getting long and now I might want to chop it off again. What is it with us girls? We're never happy!

(Six) I'm learning a lot about trusting, waiting on the Lord and not worrying. Good grief. it's hard!

(Seven) I'm looking for a somewhat easy job to have between now and June. I might have a possibility at a bridal salon in town. How fun would that be?!

(Eight) I'm lactose intolerant but I refuse to stop eating cheese.

(Nine) I love going out but I'm definitely more of "stay at home" person.

1. What is your one wardrobe staple? A great pair of jeans and a smile

2. What is the best vacation that you've ever been on? It's a tie between spring break with my sisters and my graduation trip to NYC.

3. What is the craziest thing you've ever done? Oh Lord, that's hard. I may keep that to myself :)

4. Are you a morning or night person? Hands down a night person.

5. What is your absolute favorite place to shop? Target, Lilly, J.Crew and Nordstrom

6. What is your dream job? It doesn't sound very glamorous but I'd love to be the director at Hospice

7. What is the best beauty tip you have to share? I think we should all embrace our own beauty. Sure, I don't look like the girls in the magazine and I won't ever look good with bangs. I feel we are often told we need to look a certain way and break our neck (and the bank!) trying to achieve a certain look. With all this said, just do you! Play up your favorite feature, embrace the texture of your hair, etc. When you find your own beauty from within and also play up your strengths, you will SHINE!

8. Who is your favorite musician/band and why? Miranda Lambert and Garth Brooks. I grew up on country and they are both incredible. I love Miranda's sass but also how relateable she is. Garth... well, he's just the king. No great night is complete without "Friends in Low Places." I went to his concert in 3rd grade and I still have my tshirt, ha!

9. Iphone or Droid? Why? I have always had an iPhone and would never have anything else. I don't really know much about the Droid?

10. What do you enjoy to do when you're not blogging? Just living life! I'm blessed and have wonderful people in my life.

11. Why did you start blogging? I was at Appalachian and sort of in a funk. I needed an outlet to talk about girlie things and my sister encouraged me to do it as well. She "met" great girls and also found a wonderful support system.

2. What is your favorite piece of jewelry that you own? All my David Yurman

3. What are y'alls pet peeves? The flap on the toilet paper roll goes OVER. I always change it if it's wrong because it bugs me so much. I can't stand excessively loud people or people who draw too much attention to themselves.

4. What is your favorite article of clothing? My fur vest, my boots, or my Louis Vuitton (even though that's an accessory... it's always with me and my favorite thing I own!)

5. What was the last movie you watched? Kung Fu Panda. I just babysat six kids, remember?

7. One reason why you blog? Y'all the answer is pretty simple... it's fun!

8. One thing you don't like about blogging? People are extremely critical and hateful. I don't particularly like blogging about personal aspects of my life for the whole world to see. Therefore, I tend to blog about lighthearted topics like shopping, clothes, beauty products, etc. I suppose this makes me seem a bit shallow I suppose but there is SO much more to me than is portrayed on this little blog. I really wish people would think twice about some of the nasty things they say to bloggers.

9. If you could pick one place to shop for the rest of your life, where would it be? Initially I thought Lilly but I should dream big! I'm going to say Saks or Neimans!

Quick Tip

Back in high school I wanted my hair straighter than a stick with zero frizz. I'm embarrassed to say how often I flat ironed my hair to achieve this look. I went through many flat irons and finally bought myself a Chi.

Thankfully I've moved on from these hair days but still like to straighten my hair from time to time. Unfortunately my Chi bit the dust a while back. I've had it for over five years so I guess I got my money's worth out of it. I like to have nice things (especially when it comes to beauty products) but I have a lot of other things I'd like to spend $100 on, so I just stuck it out without my flat iron.

I was looking into a GHB straightener but still couldn't bite the bullet and I'm SO thankful I didn't.

A friend on twitter told me a quick tip that I wanted to pass along to you all.

Take your broken/outdated Chi to Bed Bath and Beyond and they will exchange it for free, no questions asked. I was a bit skeptical when she told me this because I didn't buy my Chi there so I didn't have a receipt. Plus it was totally beat up and I didn't have the box. It didn't matter though. I was in and out of the store in 5 minutes flat with a brand new straightener and an extra $100 to spend on something a lot more exciting (like jewelry or clothes or makeup!)

Unless they change their return policy, I'll never have to buy another straightener again! Woohoo!

Edit: I've gotten several questions about what I said when I went into BB&B. All I did was tell her there was a short in the cord and it would not stay heated so I would like to exchange it for one that did. She said that wasn't a problem, I went and picked out the new straightener, she rang it up for free and I walked out the door. I was worried that they would look at me like I was an idiot with such a request but there were no problems whatsoever. Good luck to everyone who said they would give it a try!

A Very Merry Christmas

Did everyone have a fabulous Christmas? I sure did! My week was spent at Christmas parties, Christmas plays, EATING and shopping until I couldn't take one more step.

I always love hearing/reading about everyone's holiday and also what they get from Santa! Feel free to join in on the fun. I hope this doesn't come across as bragging, but simply remembering another Christmas gone by.

Friday night was the 5th annual Christmas party at my best friend and college roommate's house. We have a covered dish dinner, catch up, laugh til we cry, and then usually head down town. Here is a picture of my very best friends from high school. (I've known the two girls beside me since Kindergarten!)

Saturday was spent with my mother's side of the family. This is always my favorite part of Christmas. My grandfather is usually full of himself so this is when we hear the best stories! We don't have many pictures from this night unfortunately. This is a picture of Holly and I that I tweeted. Holly is wearing her party dress if you can't tell, ha!

Sunday morning my immediate family woke up and exchanged presents. I must have been good this year because my goodness, I was blown away! I didn't ask for much. To be honest, I have more than I need and what I do want is a bit pricey so I would never ask another person for it. I think this pictures describes me and my sister's reaction pretty well when we opened our boxes and both found a pair of David Yurman earrings! At first I wanted to cry but then I just started screaming. I couldn't believe it. I am going to cherish these earrings forever!

After I caught my breath from screaming, we loaded up the car and headed to my other grandparent's house. My cousins are all married and have children now so this is always a fun time. I love children, as you know, and I love seeing Christmas from their eyes. For some reason the pics aren't uploading from my phone. Sorry!

Then after my grandparent's house I went over to visit with the families I babysit for. They are neighbors and I have been watching one family for 7 years and the other for 5 years. Throughout this time they have become like family to me. Here I am with my favorite kids in the world.

Afterward I came home and collapsed on the couch watching A Christmas Story.

Usually I get sad when Christmas is over. There seems to be so much anticipation and planning put into one day. Then it flies by and before you can blink, it's over. Although this my heart is full. I'm thankful for the year I've had and the people who have held my hand through it. I pray that your Christmas was just as joyful.

Here are 7 random facts about me:

1 - I can't keep my room clean for the life of me. One might say I have too many clothes. I just think I'm a girl and I need options. And a bigger closet.

2 - I have red lipstick for Christmas and I'm dying to wear it in public but I don't have the guts. Well, at least not yet!

3 - I sleep in a twin bed. I know this is a bit odd, but in college my room was too small for anything larger. When I moved out, I kind of liked just having a tiny bed. It's cozy and doesn't take so long to warm up the sheets in the winter!

4 - I have pretty bad anxiety. Have y'all heard of anxiety cat? Yeah, some of those describe me completely. I also think I'm sick all the time. This week I thought I had strep throat, psoriasis, and mono. I'm fine though... turns out it was just a sore throat and nothing a little lotion and a nap couldn't fix, thank God!

5 - Speaking of health -- one thing that's entirely true and not made up in my head is I'm allergic to cold. Yep, the cold! I had no idea until after I went to college or I likely wouldn't have chosen the arctic tundra of Boone! Don't believe me? It's called "cold urticaria." Google it!

6 - My voice is pretty high and I sound like a child on the phone. I also get nervous on the phone {anxiety stinks!} and as a result, my voice gets even higher. During my internship when I made phone calls, I had to consciously make an effort to lower my voice so the person on the other end would take me seriously! It's kind of embarrassing, ha!

7 - Today I was driving around noticing all the Christmas tree lots still full of trees. We're talking 75+ trees at each lot with just a few days until Christmas! It makes me really sad that all those trees get thrown away. I know some get donated to shelters and whatnot but it seems wasteful to me. Our mountain house has Christmas trees across the street and you have no idea what goes into growing a tree! Those workers are there sometimes from sun up to sun down and it takes 7-8 years to allow the trees to grow to the ideal size. It makes my heart hurt a little bit to see the trees just dumped. But I guess there are bigger problems in the world... oh well!

My Charmed Life

There's something about a charm bracelet that I just love. I think it's the stories and what each charm represents that is the most appealing to me though... a charm for graduating college, your first car, your sorority, your wedding day, that special trip you took. And the fact that every one's is completely different.

I've wanted a charm bracelet for a long time and have collected charms for years but they've just sat in a little zip lock bag forever. I've ran into several problems... (1) charms are so darn expensive! {I adore the charms at Tiffany's but they start at $200 and you can only put 5-7 on a bracelet. We're talking $1000+ here people! Yikes!} (2) jewelers don't want to solder your charms onto your bracelet and (3) if you do find a jeweler who agrees to soldering your charms, half the time, that is more money than the charm itself.

So, I kind of gave up on my hope of ever having a charm bracelet to pass on to my children one day. Bummer...

But NO! In November I went with some of my sorority sisters to the Southern Christmas show in Charlotte. I really like the idea of supporting small businesses. The show was incredible and much different than the craft shows I went to when I was little. All the booths were occupied by young entrepreneurs with really awesome ideas! {I'll tell you more about that later} Imagine my delight when I came across a booth for charm bracelets!

My Charmed Life is a company out of Chicago that offers charms in sterling silver and 14k gold. They have TONS charms! And the best part? They put the charms on for you! If you order additional charms you can even add them yourself because they are added with itty bitty little key rings, if that makes sense? The charms are very reasonable and I know you'll find charms that you love! Filling up your bracelet will be easy! Here are a few (okay, A LOT) that I have my eye on...

What I've Been Up To Lately

One more week until Santa comes! Holy moly, that's nuts! I'm not sure about you, but this has been the fastest month. Wait, scratch that... it's been the fastest year! But anyways, I promised pictures and here they are along with a little update on life these days. They aren't super great, but I'm still making progress with picture taking.

This is kind of old news but I still wanted to share. Both of my grandfathers were honored on Veteran's Day as Veteran of the Year! I couldn't be more proud of the men in my life and the sacrifices they've made for our country. Their war stories never get old. I will always remember this special night. This is me with Pap and his upside down award.

I finished my internship and I'm not going to lie, I cried when I had to go. It was the most incredible experience and my dream job! Hopefully I will be back some day soon! I worked in Hospice and Palliative Care for children. I'm specifically interested in grief counseling. I get asked a lot why this is interesting to me and how I even manage to enjoy it. I can tell you there are sad times but kids are still kids, it's not sad all the time, and it's extremely rewarding. I'm still living at home with mom and dad but I'm working on applying for graduate school and getting out on my own again.

One of my sorority sisters and sweetest friends had her 23rd birthday party. Here we are before going out to celebrate in Charlotte. I'm incredibly thankful for awesome college friends but even more thankful that our group of friends have become even closer despite the distance between us. If any of you are still in college, DO NOT leave your friends behind when you graduate! You will need them more the months following graduation that you can ever imagine! It's hard leaving college and not many people talk about it openly.

I took the GRE on Tuesday and did so much better than I could have hoped! I can't tell you how relieved I am to have that behind me. I'm NEVER studying again.... until grad school I guess, ha!
Friday my mom got front row seats to the Nutcracker and it was so so fun! I'm now really in the Christmas spirit.

Last night I went the the App State vs. UNC basketball game. Let me tell you, I'm SO proud to be a Mountaineer. We lost, but we definitely held our own.

This coming week is full of Christmas parties, get together's, and tons of fun! I'll be sure to take more pictures and y'all keep holding me accountable.

Hey friends! Did everyone have a wonderful Thanksgiving? I sure did but I'm still having trouble getting my pants buttoned, ha! Oh well, it was worth it!

I've had really high hopes of getting back into blogging. I thoroughly enjoy going back and reading about what my life was like at any point. It's a fun alternative to scrapbooking and I've made so many wonderful friends. I feel like I know some of you better than my real life friends since we talk every day on twitter or through texting.

With that said, guess who forget to take pictures this weekend? Yep, yours truly. *Sigh* I used to be the master of picture taking! I don't know what happened. BUT I'm asking my readers, whoever is still out there, to PLEASE hold me accountable!

Call me crazy, but I saw this commercial last night during the CMAs (which by the way were PHENOMENAL! Let's hear it for my all time faves Reba and Miranda!) and I'm pretty excited about this movie! It looks light-hearted and fun. It may not live up to Steel Magnolias but I'll still give it a try.

(Also, just a little known fact about me. I was in the gospel choir in college and it was awesome!)

You have had the BEST stuff lately and for that, I am truly grateful. I think I might need an intervention soon. I got to thinking about it and literally almost everything new in my closet recently is from you.

Like this coat I bought today. It looks like it's from a boutique, in my opinion. The buttons, the faux fur collar, the brocade looking fabric. Oh my, it's just fabulous... and looks much more expensive than it's price tag.

Or these heels from the Missoni collection which came out in September. They have been a staple in my wardrobe this fall. They literally match anything. I wish I could get my hands on another pair. Mine are already looking a little worn. Sigh... Every time I wear them (NOT exaggerating here!!) I get a compliment. People always freak out when they know where I found them!

I know red colored denim is in for fall but I didn't want to fork out $200 for a J Brand pair that I really wouldn't wear that often. You can imagine my delight when I found this very similar pair for $22. BINGO! (They also come in cobalt blue. I may have to go back and get those too.)

And these wedges have been my go-to for work. I wish I got them in black too but unfortunately they're long gone. I'm usually a shoe snob and prefer to get shoes that are pretty good quality but these are actually comfortable. I swear!

What about this blouse that I wore to homecoming a few weekends back? One of my sorority sisters moved to NYC so she's around "fashionable people" all the time. You can imagine how hard I laughed when she said "OMG Adelaide! Who makes your shirt?" I think that meant she thought it was designer, ha!

I definitely love to splurge on gorgeous clothes, but this whole working-for-free internship thing isn't allowing me to spend as much lately. I also thinking mixing high and low makes your outfits look even more awesome. Who says you have to spend a lot on everything, especially trendy items? I'm not ashamed to say I shop at Target a lot. It helps me save money for the things I absolutely adore... like Lilly and Yurman and Louis Vuitton :)

I will always love Yurman. I don't know what it is, but that stuff is awesome. I just bought a new necklace and I'm already saving for a new pair of earrings. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like DY is more popular than ever. And with that, comes a lot of heinous knock offs (ew!)

I recently discovered Alwand Vahan and, dare I say, I might like it more than my beloved boyfriend David? I can't ever cheat on Mr. Yurman, we've just been together too long, but it is nice to have a little change, isn't it ladies? Here, take a look for yourself. The stacks are absolutely exquisite and definitely more dazzling than my current beau. All pieces are made from sterling silver, 14kgold, and precious metals. And the best part? Not everyone and their brother (or sister/cousin/aunt/next-door-neighbor/frenemy/grandma/mother) will have it.

Miranda Lambert... she's my all-time favorite singer. I can't get enough of her. I remember buying her first cd at Target and blasting "Kerosene" with my windows down everywhere I went. I just knew she would be big. I have grown up listening to Dwight Yoakam, Garth Brooks, Reba, and the like so her twang and "outlaw" singing spoke to my soul. Then "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" came out and I couldn't believe it was even better than the first cd. I listened to it so much that cd doesn't even work anymore, ha!

Anyways, all this rambling to say my love for the Queen of Country runs deep. Have you heardher new trio, Pistol Annies? I realize this music isn't for everyone, but if you love Mrs. Lambert and some good 'ole gun shooting, smack talking, Southern music, I know you'll love them too! Here... take a look for yourself!

Missoni for Target

It's no secret how much I love Target and those designer collections just get me every time. I thought the Calypso St. Barth was the best one yet but I just got a little sneak peak into the Missoni line hitting stores September 13 and I'm pretty excited! This is a little out there for me compared to the rest of the clothes in my closet but I like it! In the look book, Target pairs all the pieces from the collection together to showcase the line so it looks a little... 70s Woodstock? I don't even know, ha! But keep an open mind and try to visualize them apart. Most of the sweater dresses and tops would be adorable in the cooler months with tights, turtle necks or boots. Take a look for yourself... what do you think? Love or hate, I'd love to know!

This dress is my most favorite from the whole collection. Why? Well it's fun and it's pink!

I'm a big fan of this poncho even though it's pretty busy. I'd wear it with a brown turtleneck, skinny pants and boots. Perfect for a chilly Fall day!

I'm thinking this is sleepwear but that wrap robe thing would be adorable paired with the same items mentioned above.

The skirt/dress is SO not me, but that cardigan is pretty! I love aqua paired with camel and the diagonal lines on the front would be very slimming.

Oh la la! So chic! These have endless possibilities...

Lilly Fall Preview

I didn't have to work today so my mother and I had a fun girl day. We went to lunch at Lucky 32, one of our favorite stand-bys, and then went out for a little shopping. I stopped by Palm Avenue and I'm SO thankful I did. They had every piece from the fall collection and Lilly lovers, let me tell you, you'll be floored! This is one of my favorite lines I've seen in a while. It's still the Lilly that we love with girlie elements thrown in. Lots of pretty dresses, bows, and beautiful jewel tones. There's even a black and white print that I didn't snap a shot of. Here are a few pictures I sent to my sister with my phone. The quality isn't that great but hopefully it'll satisfy your curiosity until it debuts.

I went ahead and pre-purchased the Jonah. The print is called "Heel Yeah" and if you look closely, it's not a geometric print but high heels! I've always loved the Jonah and it will be perfect with flats and tights for my internship.

The Vow

Chick flicks are my most favorite kind of movie, much to my boyfriends dismay. Many come out year after year but there are some that are more memorable than others, such as The Notebook. I know every word and cry like a baby even though I've seen it many times. Rachel McAdams is simply stunning in her role.

I recently saw the preview for her new movie, titled The Vow, coming out in February. It seems to be another tear jerker but also a movie that causes you to count your blessings and realize how precious life really is. I hope this is a movie that inspires people to call up their closest friends and family to tell each person just how special they really are. What do you think... will you go see it?

Hi friends! How's everyone doing? I am having the very best summer ever! I can't wait to tell you about it, but I have been one busy girl!

I'm just here to tell you I haven't given up blogging... I have gotten several emails asking about it.

I've also gotten several emails asking if I've gotten my Speedy yet. I finally got it this weekend when I was in Charleston. I decided on the new Bandouliere version because I liked the versatility of the bag and thought the extras made it even more chic! Here I am right after I bought it (mom turns everything into a photo op, ha!)

Let me tell you, I LOVE IT! I haven't even had it for 3 days but it was definitely worth the initial investment. I am going to enjoy this bag for years and years to come. Some people told me the extra price wasn't worth the shoulder strap, but after carrying this bag around all day in Charleston, I was more than thrilled that I had the option to throw it over my shoulder or add the extender and wear it as a cross-body bag. I actually feel I'm getting more for my money... it's like 3 bags in one!

I totally get why people say Louis Vuitton is addicting and you can't have just one... sort of like Lilly!

Like most little girls I was obsessed with American Girl Dolls. I read all the books and simply couldn't get enough. When I babysit, I still love looking at the catalogs. There are SO many dolls and accessories now! I prefer the original classic dolls, but I do think Kit is pretty darn cute. If I was 15 years younger, I think she would be my pick.

A friend posted this on Facebook the other day and I got a good kick out of it. What does your American Girl Doll say about you? Is it accurate? I had Molly first and then Kirsten. I would say the Molly description is pretty spot on, including the "wearing glasses, liking books, and hating math."

Remember this post when I was looking for the perfect sandal? Well, I've found them and let me tell you, it's love!

The ladies at Starla generously gave me the opportunity to review a pair of sandals which I wore this past weekend for a wedding in Charleston. You can imagine my delight when I opened the package and found these sparkling beauties! They are handmade in Bali Indonesia with a high quality leather sole and suede lined straps. You can tell by looking at the picture above that the workmanship is excellent! Hey friends! I hope y'all are doing well. Sorry I have been MIA, life has been going 90 miles an hour and I haven't been on the computer much. What have I been doing, you ask? Well, I'll fill you in...

I was soaking up every last minute of college life I had left. Here are pictures from my very last Kappa Delta function as a collegian. Weird. But it was band quad, one of the top three things our chapter looks forward to each year. This year we did it with Chi Omega, Kappa Alpha, and Delta Chi. Talk about a good time! I had a blast dancing the night away.

A week ago I walked across the stage and ended that chapter in my life. I have no earthly idea where the last four years went but I sure enjoyed every single second. I couldn't have asked for a better college experience. My family came up to celebrate and it was wonderful. Talk about some good food, too!

I've never said where I went to college for safety reasons, but now that I'm finished I can say... I am a graduate of Appalachian State University. You've probably never heard of it, it's a small school in the mountains, but if you have, you may recall this event which Sport's Illustrated named "The Biggest Upset in Sports History."

I also reunited with one of my best friend who moved to DC. I am realizing how much friendships change at this time of life but I am so thankful that she and I have remained close.

While I'm sad to leave my college days behind I know that there are many good things in store for my future and I can't wait to see it all unfold. Thank you for going through the journey with me! I have enjoyed blogging so much and love all the friends I've made along the way :)

Easter Weekend

Did everyone have a wonderful Easter? Easter is one of my top 3 favorite holidays. I love celebrating our Savior, it's such a joyful, glorious day. Our King is risen and ALIVE! Christmas is great, but without the cross it would just be another day. My favorite song is "In Christ Alone" and this verse always gives me chills.

This weekend I was the happiest girl in the world because I finally was able to visit my boyfriend (it's been a long three months... the joy of long-distance dating!) and we had the most perfect time! Every second was jam packed and I certainly wasn't ready to leave. Who knew I'd ever be so sad to go back to the South?! (Boys will do that to you but don't you worry! I still think it's the greatest place on earth and certainly won't be leaving any time soon.)

I've been all over the USA but never been north of DC and let me tell you, I definitely felt out of place, ha! Here's a few things that I noticed: (This may just be the city I was in and I'm sure it's not the case everywhere. I'm just saying it was different than what I'm used to. Please don't take these the wrong way!)

-You can't split checks. Well you can, but you have to tell them when you sit down. The waiters still get annoyed and act like you're asking the most ridiculous request ever. Don't even think about individual checks.

-Liqueur is cheaper than beer. Bring on the Firefly! Personally, I think the South needs to catch on to this :)

-Everywhere I went, people asked me where I was from. Apparently I have quite an accent? Haha!

-I thought everyone dressed up like Southerners did for sporting events. Wrong! Not so much...

In other news, today I went and interviewed for an internship and was offered the job! I felt like such a big girl in my business suit, ha! I don't want to go into any detail about where, when, what company, etc. but I am absolutely thrilled and couldn't have wanted anything more! This is a huge opportunity and it's exactly what I want to do in the future! I am so blessed that this door was opened for me and can't wait to get my foot in the door. This whole real world thing isn't looking so bad after all!

First Round of Goodbyes and Bible Verses

This weekend my sorority had Senior Sendoff. Basically it's several events to celebrate the seniors before they graduate. It's a very special time when items are passed on, stories told, and lots of tears shed. Saying goodbye is never easy for me but this time being the one leaving is the hardest. I am so sad to leave this group of girls behind for many reasons but I know that we will keep in touch and the bonds of AOT cannot be broken, no matter how far away.

My heart has been heavy as I'm sure many of you seniors have felt too. It's the time of year where we say goodbye and move on with our lives or watch others we love do the same. People graduate, relocate, and turn the page to the next chapter in their lives. For me, I'm not really sure what comes next. That's incredibly stressful, not to mention scary. It's a big world out there! But I must remember it's not "Goodbye," just "See you later!" And there are many good times to come.

A friend posted this on her Facebook status and the message hit me like a ton of bricks. Don't you love it when you find a verse that speaks to you? I think it needs to be my memory verse for the year, framed on my desk and held close to my heart.

"Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don't get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes." Matthew 6:33-34

That got me thinking... what's your favorite bible verse? I have a journal full of many, it's hard to choose, but here are several that have special meaning to me:

The Great Debate

Okay girls, I need some help.

So I've been lusting over Louis Vuitton for years now. It's not for everyone, I understand, but something about the leather and that monogram pattern just speaks to me.

I've decided it's time to take the plunge. I'm graduating college in 34 days. That's a pretty huge accomplishment and I think I deserve and extra special present to myself, from myself.

So here's where I need your help... I can't decide which style. I asked the girls on twitter but thought I would ask the readers too.

Behold the Speedy 30. What a beauty! This is the bag I've been dying to have for as long as I can remember. It's timeless, chic, and classic. But can a classic be overdone? I've seen some heinous fakes and worry that maybe, just maybe there are too many 7th graders walking around the mall with their atrocious version from Claire's. Or am I just being over-dramatic? Afterall, Audrey Hepburn had one herself.

I'm also worried about the top handles. Have any of you had the Speedy? Did it bother you that you couldn't put the bag on your shoulder?

This brings me to my next dilemma... if I don't get the Speedy, how can I decide on another bag?! They are all fabulous! I'm leaning towards the Neverfull if I decide against the Speedy, but then again I can't decide on the PM or the MM. I want to use it as a purse, not so much a tote. The girls on twitter suggested the MM but I'm afraid it will overwhelm my frame. I'm kind of tiny. I do like that you can change the shape of the bag, it is lined with an inside pocket and it features the D-ring but worry that it lacks the personality of the Speedy.

So, if you don't mind, what are your thoughts? Should I stick with the Speedy? Can classics get played out? Oh decisions, decisions....

Rent The Runway

I told y'all I would tell you about my Rent the Runway experience, sorry it's taken me so long to get around to it!

At first I was skeptical of the idea and worried that the experience could go wrong in so many ways but I decided what the heck? I'll never know until I try.

The website is really easy to navigate. You can search by designer, size, date of availability, body type, type of occasion, and price. Naturally I was drawn to Lilly. I originally wanted the Citrus Candy Cane dress but it wasn't available so I decided on the Blossom dress.

To rent the dress for 4 days it was only $40. There are some hidden fees though, so the total was $58. This includes $5 insurance in case you break a zipper, lose some beads, spill wine on the dress, etc. Shipping was $12.95. At first I thought this was steep, but you have to remember you're paying for shipping both ways. You also get to choose a second size in the same dress to ensure the right fit for free. If you need additional dresses for something different in the same shipment, those are only $25. This would be fabulous if you were going to, let's say a wedding weekend in Charleston and needed a day dress for shopping, formal dress for the wedding, and cocktail dress for the rehersal dinner, for example. And if you want, ship it to your hotel instead!

My event was on Saturday but I wanted to make sure I received it and had enough time to find a replacement if I needed it. I decided to have it delivered on Thursday just to be safe. I got an email Tuesday with a tracking number saying my dress had been mailed and sure enough it arrived on my doorstep when I wanted.

When I opened my box this is what was inside. Your dress comes in a garment bag you get to keep and there is a prepaid envelope to return your dress. I was worried the dress would be worn or in bad shape but to my surprise it still had the tags on it! Also, the company always dry cleans and inspects the dress before it is sent. If it isn't up to par, they won't rent it.

I was really pleased with my experience and will definitely use them in the future as the price is reasonable and the service was great. My only regret is I wish I knew about it sooner! Especially being in a sorority, the amount of dresses I just wear once is a bit ridiculous. This is a great way to still wear beautiful, fashionable dresses you love but save money for the things that you really use long term.

Whirlwind Weekend

Every second of this weekend was jam packed which really meant it was jam packed with FUN! (I haven't uploaded my pictures yet but I will share those as soon as I do. These are just from Facebook)

Friday night was the 19th annual Kappa Delta All-You-Can-Eat Pancake Dinner. I was the drink girl, ha! There was an excellent turnout -- the most we've ever had! I can't wait to present our local organization with the money we've raised. We are their largest donor and this year we will be giving more than we ever have!

Saturday morning I participated in Delta Zeta's Turtle Trot, their 5k philanthropy. It was freezing but I still managed to get out of bed and meet some of my sisters. I didn't run (have I ever mentioned how much I despise running?) but I was still incredibly sore afterward. I should probably work out more often. Yeah, not happening...

Then I took a power nap and went over to my sister's house to get ready for FORMAL! It is single-handedly the best night of the year. We had a blast curling each other's hair and doing makeup but lost track of time and didn't get a group picture. Whoops!

My favorite part of the night was the band. Bands can sometimes be hit or miss but this particular band was incredible! We shagged and sang our hearts out. I definitely prefer bands to DJs because I just don't do booty dancing. No. Thank. You.

We also had our awards ceremony, something that every senior looks forward to. I was awarded KD Pearl for being the classiest KD or something like that. My favorite part was when the new members surprised me with white roses, a gift and the sweetest speech thanking me for being their pledge mom. I may have cried. A lot.

Speaking of crying, I can't believe this was my last formal. It hit me like a ton of bricks that this chapter in my life is quickly coming to an end. Joining KD was the very best decision I ever made in college. Being in a sorority isn't always easy but I can honestly say I'm a better person for it. Looking around the room at formal I couldn't help but smile seeing the strength of our sisterhood. Sisterhood something hard to explain but something you can feel in your heart and hold on to forever.

Seven things about me (these get harder and harder, I feel like I've shared a lot over the course of this blog!)

1. I loooove staying up late. I just can't help it, I get this weird burst of energy when midnight rolls around and can tackle anything. Normally this is when I clean the house, wash the dishes, write really long papers, and the like. On the flipside, I am NOT a morning person. I don't really like to talk when I wake up haha. I need to film my old roommate impersonating me in the morning, it's quite hilarious. I moan and groan... you get the picture.

2. I am obsessed with warm weather and dresses so this summer's bright color trend is super appealing to me, I can't resist the spending urge everywhere I go! I've put myself on a shopping ban until the end of Lent, but I did pick up this tunic today (whoops) which I love love LOVE! I can't wait to pair this with some fun chunky wedges and huge sunglasses. I just can't turn down a dress with sleeves. (Yes, taking pictures of yourself in the mirror is weird, but I was shopping by myself and needed a little help from my twitter girlfriends! Those are some fashionable ladies, ha!)

3. Speaking of sunglasses... my face is super small and I have a terrible time finding sunglasses! They either make me look like a bug or hang off the sides of my face. Sadly not even RayBans work. My dad gave my his original Wayfarers from the 70s (?) but they just don't fit. Boo hoo! Does anyone else with this problem have any suggestions for a brand or style that works for them?

4. Formal is coming up this weekend and my spring break tan is fading quickly. Thank goodness for Jergen's Natural Glow!! I decided to try out the foam formula instead of the lotion and let me tell you, I'm sold. No more stinky smell and waiting to dry. I definitely recommend it!

5. You may remember I was supposed to go to Formal in December but it got canceled due to snow at the last minute. It stunk at the time, but my sisters decided since we were already dressed up, we might as well have a good time even if our bus couldn't get up the mountain. So in hindsight it's a great thing, we get two formals! However the brocade in my dress makes a little too wintery for late March so I decided to give Rent the Runway a shot. I've heard great things about it and am anxious to give it a try! I'll let you know what I think.

6. My best friend and I got floor seats to see Taylor Swift! Woohoo! We went two summers ago and it was a night to remember. You better believe I was squealing just as loud as the 10 year olds but who cares? I had a blast and can't wait to do it again. I met Kellie Pickler last time and got her autograph too! It was awesome to meet her where it all began (the same place she auditioned for American Idol)... crazy how far she's come.

7. I don't really care for anything at McDonald's, but their $1 hot fudge sundaes rock my world. Not kidding you, I get one 2-3 times a week. When your guilty pleasure is that cheap it's hard to turn down!

Hey friends! I hope y'all had a wonderful weekend and enjoyed the first day of spring... I know I did!

In preparation for spring and transitioning my wardrobe, I found some Lilly in my closet that needs a new home. I thought I would list it here before I tried eBay.

The first dress is the Franco Colorblocked in a size 0. The dress is an adorable pink gingham with lace detail at the bodice, fully lined, side boning, hidden side zipper, rubber "gripper strip" inside to hold dress in place and adorable tie back. It is brand new, with tags. Original retail was $198, asking $90. Shell and lining are 100% cotton. Can be hand washed or dry cleaned. Update: Sold

The second dress for sale is the Gweneth dress in "Multi Loco Patch" in a size 2. I adore this dress but sadly it is too large for me. It is brand new without tags. Original retail is $228, I'm asking $60. It is fully lined with side boning and hidden side zipper, pinch pleat bodice, smocking in the back, rubber "gripper strip" inside to hold dress in place. Shell is 55% linen, 45% cotton, lining is 100% cotton. Machine wash. Sadly my iPhone pictures without a flash do not do it justice. You can get a better idea of the colors through the pictures on this eBay auction.

Well, spring break went by before I could blink an eye but I sure had an incredible time! The weather was perfect, the ship was stunning, and I was with the funniest girls I've ever known. I can assure you there was lots of dancing, laughing, and LOTS of memories made! Sad that it was my last spring break, but I think we went out in style. OUTSIDE MY WINDOW... the birds are chirping and the sun is shining. Spring is on the way, finally!

I AM WEARING.... norts and a function shirt. Every sorority girl's uniform. And my pearls, I never take those off.

I AM REMEMBERING... how much my life was about to change this time 6 years ago. Maybe I'll share later.

I AM READING... Water for Elephants. And a huuuge stack of magazines! I got a little behind during midterms.

I AM HOPING... everything will fall into place after graduation. This whole being an adult thing is scary! Just an update, I decided to leave Child Life behind for now. As much as I loved the field it is insanely competitive to even get an internship. So many girls in my program haven't gotten internships for the last 2 sessions which means they do not have a diploma yet. I don't want to wait around that long, I'm ready to start living for me! The field is very limited and I don't want to have to move to Iowa just to have a job (not that there is anything wrong with Iowa, it was the first place that popped in my head, it's just a super long way from home.)

I am now cramming for the GRE, trying to secure another internship and applying to graduate school to be a school counselor. Counseling has always been something I've come back to time and time again and I can't tell you how many people have told me I was made for that. So that's the plan for now and I can't tell you how much peace I have about it now! But again, I don't know where I will be living or anything. It's all in God's hands which makes it so much better. I was considering the college in my hometown but come to find out their program is 4th in the country! Yikes! Oh well, I'll still give it my best shot and of course I'll keep you updated!

ON MY MIND... a special boy who is far away. I'm DYING to see him. I've been keeping this a secret from my blog friends for a long, long time but I just can't any more :)

FROM THE KITCHEN... well, it's pretty bare. I should probably plan my meals for the week and go to the grocery store. I've been craving summer cookout food though, like banana pudding, pecan pie, fried okra and bbq.

AROUND THE HOUSE... okay I'll be honest, it looks like a tornado just ripped through my room. I consider myself an organized person. However this is my third year crammed in my tiny house and I outgrew it a loooong time ago. This girl needs more space and a much larger closet!! And the vacuum broke. Things aren't looking too great around here haha.

PLANS FOR THE WEEK... the list is a mile long. I'll spare you! Just know that my planner looks like a crayola box exploded and there's at least 3 post-it notes attached to the page too!

ONE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS... I'm so excited Easter is coming up! It's one of my favorite holidays because it has so much meaning to me. Christmas is great but we would be no where without the cross.

Spring Wish List

Sorry to be a downer but I was not impressed with the first spring shipment of Lilly. I felt that the company got too lost in the theme of the year, "Lilly in the Arts," and completely lost sight of the line's identity. The spring line tends to be my favorite of the entire year because the colors are a bit more muted and they tend to incorporate more blue. However this year it was bold, had primary colors, and left me totally confused. It was a little too "Andy Warhol" for me. My favorite brand in the world let me down for the first time.

However a month later I am not so worried about my dear LP. They got this second shipment of spring down just right. Here is what I'm currently coveting...

The Adelson Shift in "Hotty Pink It Can Be Arranged"
I've been holding out on the Adelson, which I adore, and now I'm glad I did. It's in a print! Hopefully this beauty will be residing in my closet soon. It has "me" written all over it.

The Wyatt in Multi Peel and Eat
This might be my favorite dress, but it's most definitely my favorite print of the season! I love the Wyatt because it's not as dressy as many of my other Lilly's so I can wear it more often. It's coming out in a daffodil print which I think would even look cute with cowboy boots!

I let this dress slip through my fingers last season and I missed out. That will not be the case this year. The only hard part is deciding what color, however I really like this blue. Wouldn't it be cute for the fourth of July? I have always loved the tie backs also.

You know how wristlets are great for going out unless you have on a dress and can't stick your phone in your back pocket? Kind of defeats the purpose to me because I still have tons to keep up with. I couldn't be more excited about this year's spring break trip... in just a few day I will be leaving to go on a cruise to the Bahamas with 8 sorority sisters! These are my favorite girls in the world and I know the week ahead will be one to remember.

I'm telling you, cruising is the way to travel. There are so many incredible deals if you just take the time to look. It's going to be awesome!

I love love love HOT weather and it's suppose to be in the high 80s all week. I can't wait to soak in the sun on the ship everyday. To say I'm pale is an understatement (I'm so white I'm almost transparent) but thankfully I won't look like Casper for long!

I have a strange feeling the drink boy and I will become pretty good friends. I don't plan on doing much other than sipping pina coladas and margaritas non-stop, ha!

The Best Fast Food In The World

I don't think it's a secret how much I love Chick-fil-a. We had a Valentine's mixer with Delta Chi and the theme was "What Is Love?" Basically you dressed up as something you love, and I went as the cow with the eat more chicken sign. (I totally realize that's not the best costume idea in the world but I am so NOT creative with stuff like that!) I go to Chick-fil-a on average 3 times a week and some of the workers know my name. Embarrassing. Something makes me think they put a secret ingredient in that chicken to make it addicting, or at least that's what I tell my dad, ha!

I read today that they are going to have a banana pudding milkshake starting Monday. You better believe my car will be going through the drive through at some point that day. Banana pudding is my favorite dessert. YUM!

Also, mark your calendars. March 4 is free fry day! Woohoo!

Summer Sandals

Are you loving this warm weather or what?! I heard that this is the warmest February my college town has had since the 1800s! So being the warm-weather-loving girl I am, I decided to bite the bullet and dust off my Jacks a little early. I was hobbling around campus like a hobbit (switching from closed toed shoes to open toed shoes or vice versa is always hard for me haha) but I didn't care. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping and I was one happy girl.

Anyways, around this time of year I also start my search for the perfect summer sandal that I will wear practically every day from April through October. There are only a few guidelines:

1) Must be comfy. I don't do blisters.
2) Must be able to be dressed up or down
3) Must match half my wardrobe
4) Must be good quality and last a while (to me this means leather)

Here's a few that I've spotted for this year:

I believe these are from last season but they are still available on the kate spade website and other places like Zappos, Nordstrom, etc. Pearls, bows, and a strappy sandal... what's not to love?! They also come in gold.

I love the combination of gold and silver in this shoe. They will literally match everything.

I have the heeled pair in pink and a pair with the thinner strap in gold and adore them. I almost wore them out!

I stinking love this pair! I have coveted them for years. One day they will be mine.

And last but not least.... Jack Rogers. I don't believe they need any explaining. They are classic and speak for themselves. If they're good enough for Jackie Kennedy they are good enough for me, obviously!

My love for monogramming started at a very young age thanks to my mom. As a child, my name or initials were on everything! Dresses, hair bows, lunch boxes, pencils, backpacks, towels, you name it! Now that I'm older, not much has changed. I am have been coveting a monogrammed necklace for quite some time and Michelle Money on the Bachelor didn't help one bit. Hers is several hundred dollars (it's Max and Chloe and the price ranges from $180-$850) but I knew if I kept looking I could find the same thing elsewhere. Sure enough I was at Swoozies and found just what I wanted!

Don't you love the floating design? It's $69 for the small and $84 for the medium in either sterling silver or goldtone. I think that is very reasonable for custom jewelry!

Did everyone have a great time watching the superbowl? I'm not one to get into NFL football but it was the perfect excuse to get together with my sorority sisters for a girl night. The halftime show seemed to be all we really cared about (if I'm being honest) which led us to discuss our favorite halftime performances from the past. I didn't remember very many, but who could forget Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction? I would have to say my favorite was Britney Spears, Aerosmith, Justin Timberlake, Mary J. Blige and Nelly. The Bigger the Hair, the Closer to God

As a true Southern girl I'm always searching for new and better ways to make my hair as big as Miss Texas. You know the saying, "Welcome to the South: the only thing bigger than our standards is our hair"... well, I couldn't agree more. Here's my strategies:

Big Sexy Hair Shampoo and Conditioner. I buy this at Ulta when they have buy 2 get 2 free, usually in the summer. It ends up being cheaper than drug store brands and the liter bottles last me all year.

Velcro Rollers. Gracie Beth tweeted the other day that she uses hers while her hair is still wet. This cuts back on heat and styling time. Genius!

Now, if you're in a rush and need to dry your hair, I recommend using The Marilyn Brush from Ulta. The hourglass shape creates more of an "S wave" which lifts hair from the roots and flips out at the ends. It doesn't matter if you use the best volumizing shampoo in the world, the trick is how you style it when you are drying. This 100% boar hair bristle brush with do the trick. Trust me, there's a reason it's been featured in In Style, Shape and Lucky Magazine.

Freeze it hair spray. The grand daddy of 'em all. Original formula only, found at Wal-Mart. I spray this on my hair before I style while it's still wet, in my roots when teasing and also all-over my hair after I'm finished.

Rat tooth comb to tease, tease, tease! (Couldn't they have come up with any other name than "rat tail?" Eww! Also, only tease in one direction, not up and down.)

If you're really feeling crazy, hot rollers to the trick too. Bigger rollers create more volume, smaller rollers create more curl. I recommended having a set with both.

Yesterday I went to the mall to get my nails done. Since it was a Friday and I had nothing to do I decided to wander around. (One day I'm going to realize this is a bad idea and not to tempt myself, especially when my spring fever has turned into a disease and all the stores are just now putting out brightly colored beauties of all kinds. Oh well...) I stopped at the makeup counter at Belk, a place I adore, to see what they had in for spring. I picked up this new Milly compact at Clinique called "Pretty in Prints" and the coordinating lip gloss in "Milly Pink." Pink and brown makeup is my favorite, plus it's Milly, plus it comes with an adorable pouch. Needless to say, I am already obsessed. I first tried out my new makeup last night and was pleased with how well the product went on and stayed on. The texture is perfect and they aren't kidding when they say the lip gloss is "long wearing."

Hi friends! I hope you are all doing well and the new year has brought you many blessings. I wanted to apologize for my lack of postings in the last several months. I have been struggling with blogging for several reasons. I love sharing my life and creating a "digital scrapbook" to look back and smile. It's so fun to see where you've come from, how you've changed, and remember things you may have forgotten. I have loved "meeting" girls I am certain would be my very best friend if we just knew each other in real life. I have loved walking through the struggles and celebrations of your daily lives as well. Somewhere through it all I got a bit burnt out. I also received rude, odd, and uncomfortable messages throughout this whole process that I was not expecting when I first started blogging and frankly really hurt. I did not start journey this to be criticized. I also struggled with what was appropriate to share and how much was too much to put out there for the whole world to see. I guess I just wanted to be honest with all 700 of my readers and let you know what was going on. This blog is not ending but it may take a different direction. I had a wonderful Christmas and enjoyed spending time with my family. Christmas was extra special this year because much like the rest of the South, we got about 6+ inches of snow! This is the first white Christmas in my hometown since 1969! I've just been snowed in sitting by the fire and watching movies all day long. No after Christmas sales for me!

When I bought Carrie Underwood's cd last year and heard this song for the first time, I started crying. It is such a beautiful song with so much meaning. I think as girls, we can all say we pray for this one day. I just wanted to encourage you single girls, wherever you are, to not give up. God has a plan and it's a perfect plan. Hang in there.

I thought this interview was very interesting. I love that she says the obvious thing to think the song is about a wedding, but that it also could apply to a mom sending her daughter off to college. She's saying "Mom, don't worry about me. God is good and he is taking care of me." How cool!

The Perfect Pair of Jeans

I've been in the market for the perfect pair of jeans for a long time. Just when I think I've found the perfect pair in the dressing room, I take them home, wear them one time and then I feel like the same pair was now 2 sizes too large. Then the search continued again. None of my pants from last year remotely fit, so my search had to be put in emergency mode. It's been cold this week and I needed pants ASAP.

I wandered up to a boutique around the corner from my house and started my search. After 20 pairs, I tried on these boot-cut Hudson's:

And then it happened, I fell in love. These jeans fit in all the right places and didn't even squeeze me causing a muffin top. I'm obsessed. I am right under 5'7 but often time have to purchase jeans in the "Long" length. These jeans work perfectly with my Wallabee's and Cowboy boots, which I live in in the colder months. Additionally, I have worn them several times and they aren't even saggy in the butt region (I HATE that!) They were a little bit more than I wanted to spend, but considering how much I've spent on jeans that I don't wear anymore, the price is comparable. I know that I will get my money's worth because these jeans are such high quality, I will wear them often. I already want a "skinny" pair, like these:

Well, I'm one proud pledge mom! Here's all 40 of my new KDs.

Bid day was awesome! We had revealing, lunch, and then we went to a place that has laser tag, bumper cars, bowling, mini golf and an arcade. It was a blast. I feel bad for all the people around us. There were a lot of screaming Kappa Deltas haha.

Here is the back of our tshirt. The theme of recruitment was "Come Sail Away With Kappa Delta" and I wanted bid day to go along with that.

We had an incredible recruitment and all our hard work paid off! I couldn't be more proud of our new pledge class! They are all absolutely incredible girls.

So my college town just recently got an Aveda Concepts Salon. This is a huge deal considering we don't even have a Target, the best store at the mall is Rue 21 and the only place to get your hair cut is Great Clips. Not that there is anything wrong with Great Clips at all, but I just don't trust any 'ole person to cut my hair. For that reason I have been getting my hair cut on my visits at home for the last 3 years. Yes, I know it's stupid to drive 2 hours to get your hair cut but for some reason I justified it.

Anyways, I was talking to my new favorite hair stylist at Aveda and she asked me what I typically did with my hair. I told her I have thick hair that is actually curly so I flat iron it every time I wash it, typically about 5 times a week. I also like to use hot rollers and tease til the cows come home, so my hair takes a lot of heat (literally). She said it was very important to use a serum to protect my hair from heat damage. She talked me into buying Aveda's Smooth Infusion Style-Prep Smoother (you can talk me into anything... I'm a marketing person's dream client haha) and I am now a strong believer in the product! My hair is much smoother and I think it is less frizzy. Basically I just use 3 to 4 pumps throughout my damp hair and style as usual. You cannot feel the product buildup, only soft, silky hair. I seem to not be the only one with great results. 97% of users would recommend the product to a friend.

Just yesterday I went to Walmart and scoured the shelves for the perfect shampoo and conditioner. I walked away with L'Oreal's Everstrong Hydrate Sulfate-Free Shampoo and Conditioner. Now I don't know what sulfate is, why it's in my shampoo and why it's actually bad, but the bottle said my hair would be stronger and healthier after just one wash, so I thought, "Hmm, that sounds like something I need" and threw it in my buggy. (Again, I'm a marketing person's dream... I believe anything and everything, especially on a bottle) I am here to report that this shampoo bottle actually told the truth! I can already see and feel a difference in my hair. I love the light rosemary and mint scent. And, even though the products are "hydrating," I don't feel like my hair is greasy or weighed down. I am anxious to try the Deep Replenishing Masque and the Over-Night Repair Treatment.

Today was a special day for all Lilly lovers... it was the secret sale open for facebook fans and email subscribers! This is an event where Lilly slashes their prices WAY down like they would at the warehouse sale but you can shop from the comfort of your own home. The sale must have not been so secret though because the sight crashed within a few minutes from so much activity! I decided to go to lunch and when I came back the site was back up and running. I ran into some trouble checking out so I called the 800 number on the website. I must say, Lilly's customer service is fantastic! I spoke with the Jack at The Pink Palace and he got everything squared away in no time.

I must say, I was very put off by some of the rude, impolite, and hateful comments on the facebook page. I read one comment from a Lilly Lover that said "Come on everyone! Let's be the ladies our mother's raised us to be!" I couldn't agree with her more. I understand the frustration but sheesh people! Don't get your panties in a wad! Anyways, I'm not here to complain or judge.

Let's get to the fun stuff... what will soon be taking up residence in my closet!

This is the Cormick dress in "Multipatch Juice Stand." I bought this same style dress in the spring (it's yellow, green, and blue and was in my beach pictures the post below) and it is so comfortable! I also like that the dress is somewhat casual compared to a lot of the other Lilly dresses in my closet so I know I will get my money's worth out of it.

This it the Betsey dress in "Lilly's Pink Tiger Lilly." Again, I absolutely adore this print! The picture doesn't do the dress justice, but the eyelet trim along the bottom of the dress and under the bust is stunning. I plan on wearing this dress to Carolina Cup in the spring.

I purchased another navy Paley cardigan to replace the one I've managed to lose recently (tisk tisk, Adelaide!) This is the best cardigan ever and I think we all need it in every color!

This is the Hillview halter. I have always lusted over Lilly's halter tops in stores but have never bought one for myself because they are always the same price as a dress (which I think I will get more wear out of.) But my eyes don't have to wander anymore because now I have one of my very own! Finally!

I also got the Simple Skirt in "Prep Green Hit the Spot" and "True Blue Mari Time." I think the blue skirt will be darling with a turtle neck or cardigan and flats to wear into the Fall! I had the ruffle button up shirt in my cart as well but it sold out. Boo!

And lastly, I got a gift with purchase... FREE McKim Sandals! Y'all, these retail for $88! If I could insert the Hallelujah chorus right here, I would.

So in conclusion, I think the sale was fantastic! I saved (drum roll please) over SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS! That's twice the amount of my entire order. Be sure to head on over and check it out for yourself. There is still really really great stuff that need homes!

I'm A Senior... How'd THAT Happen?!?!

Hello blogger friends! I hope as you read this your life is full of happiness, blessings, and JOY! I am typing right now from my desk at school. After 4 months at home, I'm finally back again. I enjoy the lazy days of summer but I am looking forward to the year ahead. I can't believe this is my last year here! Where has the time gone? I am certainly not ready to leave and be a grown-up girl in a big, big world! It's crazy to think in less than a year this chapter of my life will be through. After that, I know the Lord has huge plans for me and even though I don't know where they will lead,I am thankful and excited about the journey getting there.

I feel like I have been saying this for months, but I apologize for the lack of posts lately. I feel like life is going past me 90 miles an hour and I just can't keep up! Here's what I've been up to (get ready for picture overload):

I had a wonderful 4th in the mountains with my family...

...and picked the blueberries we have growing by the creek (one of my absolute favorite things to do in the summer!)

I went to the Michael Buble concert which was absolutely, positively amazing! I sang my heart out the entire time. Michael is hilarious and put on an incredible show. I will definitely be seeing him again in the future.

I went to Kure Beach with my parents. We had a wonderful, lazy vacation and pretty much did nothing except lay on the beach and eat haha.

My sister and brother-in-law were able to join us for a weekend. Thank goodness! I love my sister and don't get to see her near enough as I would like to. We rode the ferry over the Southport for the day and ate at our favorite restaurant called Provisions. Without a doubt, they have the best crabcakes and peel-and-eat shrimp I've ever had.

I've spent as much time visiting my sisters as I possibly could on the weekends! Words can't describe how much I love love love this group of girls!

Remember how I told you I had a tight group of girlfriends in high school and we are still very close to this day? Well, one of them got married. Unfortunately, though, we didn't get a picture with the bride. Oops.

And I just got back yesterday from another 10 day trip to the beach. This time I went the family I nanny for all summer long. Seriously, how cute are these kids?! I have the best job in the world. (And did I ever mention that I have naturally curly hair?)

And there you have it, just a little bit of my whirlwind of a summer. If you made it this far, you're a trooper and I appreciate it :) Now I must get back to unpacking the loads and loads of boxes I have piled up in my room. Who knew I had so much stuff?!

I'm so excited! I checked Twitter the other day and Vineyard Vines tweeted they were having up to 40% off merchandise. I love VV and I love a good sale so you can imagine how thrilled I was to find out women's sale items were an additional 30% off markdown! I don't really need any more summer clothes but I still thought I'd take a peek. Thank goodness I did because I found this fleece vest and fleece pullover that will be perfect for the cooler weather headed for the mountains when I go back to school.

Summertime and the Living's Easy

Hey sweet friends! How is everyone doing? Gosh, it's been a while hasn't it? This summer has been incredible but I have been going 90 miles an hour since school got out.

My practicum was absolutely amazing and I have never been more certain that I am doing exactly what the Lord has called me to. People ask me all the time, "How are you around sick kids all day? Isn't that depressing?" My answer every time is, "Absolutely not!" In fact, it's full of joy! Plus you have to see these kids for what they are. They are kids. Not kids that have cancer, diseases, or life threatening illnesses. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures from my 6 weeks there. Due to privacy laws and whatnot I am not allowed.

Since then I have been babysitting. This will be my third summer with these kids. I just love this family so much and am blessed to have this opportunity. Sometimes I think it's too good to be true since it doesn't really feel like a job.

The best part of summer? Beach music downtown with best friends!

I have also been out of town every weekend since school got out. I can tell I'm getting to that age when everyone and their brother is getting married. It's been wonderful to see old friends from high school that I haven't seen since graduation. I can't lie, I ball like a kid at every single ceremony haha!

Whenever I get a chance I have been going to school to visit my sorority sisters and get away from the heat (it's been awful this year hasn't it?! I'm not complaining though. Last winter is still not a too distant memory.)

Tuesday nights I have been doing Beth Moore's bible study "Breaking Free" with some girls from my YL Campaigner's group. We have been studying God's word together for 8 years now and it's been so powerful to grow with these girls. I'm so blessed to have such encouraging sisters in Christ.

(No, I don't have a boyfriend.)

I've also been loving the world cup and watching when I can. I feel kind of stupid saying this but I didn't even know there was a world cup happening until the day of the USA vs. England game haha. However I love an excuse to pull for the USA and be patriotic so I got into it! I even got the Vuveluza app on my iPhone much to my friend's dismay.

Another thing that's been keeping me super duper busy is planning everything for my sorority's bid day and new member process. I am very excited but didn't realize how much I would be putting into making this period wonderful for the new girls and my chapter!

This weekend we are going to celebrate the 4th with my family in the mountains. I can't wait to see my big sister, my grandparents, my aunt and uncle, and my cousin! I hope y'all have a fabulous time celebrating your freedom in the MOST fabulous country in the world!

Tomorrow after work I am headed to Charlotte to stay with one of my best friends, Rachel and see some of our other sorority sisters. I can't explain how excited I am about this trip. It is just what I need right now! I have really enjoyed being home but since I got out of school and started work a few days later it just hasn't felt like summer. Plus, I've just missed this group of girls more than anything.

It's summer time which means I'm not going to wear closed toed shoes for the next 6-ish months. I can't have my feet or hands looking nasty. I always have my nails painted and have mastered the 5 minute manicure. It's taken some practice but I've even mastered painting with my left hand. Anyways, I wanted to introduce you to my new favorite colors for summer!

The first is a more subtle color that reminds me of the sand. It's called "Tutti Frutti Tonga."

The second is a pinkish-purple called "Ate Berries in the Canaries." LOVE.

In other news... what did y'all think of the bachelorette tonight?! I was tweeting with some other bloggers and was cracking up! We're a tough crowd to please. I thought the first episode was hilarious and if it's any indication of what's to come, it's going to be a great season. Right now I really like Roberto (sure, he has a terrible tattoo but I love his personality), Chris L. (broke my heart about his mom), and Frank (yes, a little hyper but I see something special in him). There's others that I liked as well but those are the three sticking in my head as I'm typing. We can talk more about this later because I'm already up too late. I don't want to be dead at my internship tomorrow!

Speaking of my internship, it is going extremely well! I definitely know that Child Life is the career for me which is a huge blessing -- I can't tell you how many times I've changed my major. Everyone has been so nice to me and each day I'm learning something new. On Wednesday I will be halfway through! That's crazy!

There are so many things I love about summer. I could go on and on, but one of my favorite things is curling up with a great book. Right now I just started reading Emily Giffin's new book "Heart of the Matter." Her books are the perfect summer read and I'm sure this one will not disappoint.

I heart the Dixie Chicks...

Y'all, to say i love the Dixie Chicks would be an understatement. I can remember the first time I heard "Wide Open Spaces." It was 1998 and I was nine years old. I cried thinking about the day I would leave the safety of my parent's care. Later, as an 8th grader, I cried while listening to the song and envisioning my sister leaving for college. (For some reason I thought she would leave and I would never see her again.) And then as at 16 year old I cried as I thought about "leaving room to make her big mistakes." Oh how far I've come.

And Cowboy Take Me Away... gosh, what a great song! We used this in our skit at girl scout camp in like 4th grade. We thought the part about falling was hilarious. But then I got older and dreamed about my own cowboy sweeping me off my feet.

And then in 2002 Landslide came out when I was 13. Thanks to my dad and his excellent musical taste, this is one of my favorite songs of all time while I was growing up. I have good memories of us singing along to an old song made new again.

And then, boy oh boy! It was 2003 and The Dixie Chicks were coming to MY hometown. Dad promised that we could go and I was on cloud 9. This was a dream come true! But wait... the backlash occured when Natalie Maines slammed President Bush. Dad said it wasn't a good idea for us to go anymore. Talk about shattered dreams.

A few years later in 2006, my beloved Chicks came out with the song "Not Ready to Make Nice." I cheered as they wracked up at the Grammy's. My favorite lyric was
"I made my bed and I sleep like a baby
with no regrets. And I don't mind saying it's a sad sad story
when a mother will teach her daughter
that she 'ought to hate a perfect stranger.
And how in the world can the words that I say
send somebody so over the edge that they write me a letter
saying that I better shut up and sing or my life will be over!" Um, whoa!

Now that I'm older, I love the Chicks just as much as the days my sister and I blasted the cds on the way to school each morning. But gosh I wish they would come out with something new! After 13 Grammys and 30 million albums sold, I know I can't be the only one. They were huge!

Unfortunately the Chicks are not reunited yet, but 2/3 of the trio have formed a new group called The Court Yard Hounds. The sound is different from the Dixie Chicks, but still a great. Take a listen for yourself!

Hey friends! Gosh, I'm sorry I have been gone for so long. I've been trying to take some time for myself, focus on school as much as possible, and enjoy the last little bit of my junior year. Yep, that's right! Yours truly is now at senior status. *GULP.* But here's a little bit of what I've been up to since I've been gone...

This year we had our 18th annual pancake dinner. It was our most successful year yet! I'm in love with these pink shirts!

Here I am with some of my sisters before our community outreach project for Greek Week! Picking up trash will never be more fun as the time you drag along 20 of your closest friends!

I attended a Kappa Delta progressive dinner with a "Real Housewives" theme. Although I'm not exactly sure who I went as, ha! I had never been to a progressive dinner but I thoroughly enjoyed the night. (For those of you who may be unfamiliar... a progressive dinner is when you have appetizer's at one house/location, the entree at a second house/location, and dessert at a third).

Side note... I have to share with you the awesome poem that our social chair emailed out. It's no poetic masterpiece but I LOVED it!

Then there was the day springtime finally hit my college town. Oh what a glorious day that was! This is when I realized spring really was coming around and I wasn't doomed to a life of gloom, gray skies, 8 feet of snow, negative wind chills an itchy sweaters. (Ok, I'm being a bit dramatic but it was a loooong winter. We got more snow than Alaska!) You should have seen the quad. People were practically sitting on top of each other.

I love it when it's warm outside. Everyone just seems so much happier. And the dogs come out to play. This is Oscar. How stinking cute is he?! It was all I could do not to run away with him, but then I thought about my sweet dog Holly. She is a bit selfish and wouldn't like sharing the spotlight :)

On beautiful days like this particular day, everyone meets up at a restaurant/bar that is right across the street from campus. It's so fun to sit outside and visit with your friends as they stop by in between or after classes. This is when I got my first sunburn of the year. (Yes, for me that is something to be proud of... another sign that winter is OVER!)

Here we are last weekend at one of my sister's going away party. It was a beautiful day, so we all grabbed our bathing suits, towels, and sunscreen to meet up for an afternoon of fun in the sun. We set up a slip-n-slide and blow up pool and had a ball. Gosh, I LOVE college life! I've been trying to take advantage of this time as much as I can. I'm realizing how fast it's all going to be over.

I finished school on Tuesday and have been enjoying a few summer days at school with friends. I have tried not to get too carefree in my summer spirit because I start my internship on Monday! That's right, I'm a working woman! (Er, sorta. Except for the whole getting paid part.) I will be working at a children's hospital in the Child Life department. I must say I'm a bit anxious about the whole thing but know it will be a growing experience nonetheless.

I must go and finish packing boxes. I'm moving back home in the morning!

It's good to be back. I've missed y'all! Happy summer, friends :)

I just got back from Atlanta and wow! What a weekend it was! You know that feeling you get when you just know in your heart that God is up to something amazing? Well, I've had that feeling and I just know that God is doing something huge. Over 300,000 women heard the message yesterday and I know lives are being changed. It gave me chills when I realized 300,000 women, all across North America, were singing the same song to our King at the exact same time. Isn't that incredible?! That's what heaven is going to be like one day and I can't wait. I knew the devil was trembling at our praises. AMEN! I will share more details Tuesday when I am finished with class, but this was just posted on the LPM blog (that's Beth Moore's ministry) and I thought y'all would find it encouraging whether you were at the conference or not.

I'm sorry I have been MIA recently. It's that glorious time in a college student's life filled with late nights, zero sleep, cramming, and making deadlines. I'm in over my head in school work and need all the studying time I can get. I will be back soon, I promise! Good luck on finals for all my college friends out there! Easter is one of my favorite holidays. Christmas is wonderful, but all our hope is found in the cross. I love the idea of resurrection, of new life and rebirth. Friends, we have nothing to fear! Carolina Cup

So I didn't actually make it down to the Cup this year. Sad, but that didn't stop me from having fun and making the most of it! Some of my sisters decided to have Carolina Cup at their house this year. It was just as fun as the real thing and the weather was beautiful. I got to finally wear my new Lilly dress that I got for Christmas and I got tons of compliments. I have more pictures on my camera so I will post those if I get the time. Well friends, spring has finally sprung! So long bitter cold, snowy days. I don't mean to be rude, but I will not miss you one bit! I hope y'all are enjoying the sunshine. It is absolutely gorgeous here today! I am off to brunch with a dear friend but I promise I will post soon. Getting back to school has been an adjustment and I have been a bit under the weather for a few days. Thanks for being patient with me! Now get outside and enjoy the first day of spring!
