Anticipation!

(The BEST night of Summer 2009 - TAYLOR SWIFT!)

This weekend I am going to be reunited with my very best friend in the whole world. This is a huge deal for several reasons...

#1 - Let me mention that the whole 3 years I have been in college I have only gone to visit friends at other colleges ONCE! My sorority keeps me busy so I'm excited to be the one that's actually visiting now.

#2 - I have never seen Sarah's super cute house.

#3 - It's about time for me to get back to the real world. (I sort of feel like I'm disconnected from the outside world ha. For example, I'll go home for Christmas and be riding in the car with friends. They'll turn up the sound but I have never heard the song despite it being out for 4 months. We don't really get radio here among other things. Maybe we can even go to the MALL! Our mall consists of JC Penney, Rue 21, Claire's, and some candy store.)

#4 - I get to go to TARGET! Home, sweet home! (Sarah - I know we haven't talked about this, but can we please please please squeeze this in?)

#5 - GIRL TALK! It's the best. And lots of laughing.

#6 - I have to tell a story to explain this one. So, one day I was iChatting with Sarah online and her roommate was in the room. I said hi because I had heard all about her. Then, I was telling Sarah how excited I was about school and my new school supplies (we totally relate in the fact that school supplies shopping is thrilling) and Sarah's roommate was in the room and overheard what I was saying. Then, I blogged about my new Lilly school stuff. Sarah's roommate put two and two together and realized that the blog she was reading all summer and the girl she said hello to was the same person, me! Funny, huh? I can't wait to meet my first reader, ha!

#7 - Not only will I get to see Sarah but another long time friend heard that I was coming so she's going to stay at Sarah's too!

#8 - Car rides. Am I the only person who really loves riding in the car? There will be 3 of us and I just know that we'll have some great encouraging and challenging conversations. My favorite!

Before Friday I have 2 tests to study for plus packing so I probably won't be blogging but Sunday I will surely have LOTS of pictures and stories to tell! Good luck with the rest of your week and I hope you have a fabulous weekend!

Have a blessed day :)

What I'm Loving Right Now

This cd is phenomenal! I'd say it is her best album yet. OBSESSED!

You Know You're From North Carolina If...

1. You've gotten used to the smell of cow manure on a car trip to Raleigh.

2. Saying "y'all" isn't just a cute expression; it actually means something.

3. There are big Labrador retrievers in the back of every truck.

4. You give directions using KFC and Waffle House as landmarks.

5. You still see Dale Earnhardt tributes on cars.

6. You can't imagine life without Bojangles' sweet tea.

7. Your annual church fundraiser always deals with BBQ and potato salad.

8. You have a sunburn from May to October.

9. Your 'heavy winter clothing' consists of some turtleneck sweaters, a fuzzy jacket, and your daddy's boots.

10. Your family has fried chicken once a week.

11. You can tell the difference between cotton fields and tobacco fields while driving.

12. One of your neighbors has a confederate flag hanging on their front porch.

13. Those "damn yankees" are taking over your school/church/workplace/neighborhood...

15. You get your carbs from biscuits, rolls, pancakes, and grits.

16. You know the difference between a "redneck" and a "hick".

17. You own at least one t-shirt from Bert's Surf Shop, AB Surf Shop, or The Sanitary Fishmarket. (I'd have to add in The Salty Dog Cafe)

40. Your folks have taken trips to the mountains to look at leaves.

41. Your school took a field trip to the State Fair in Raleigh.

42. You would elect Richard Petty or Ric Flair for governor if either ever ran.

43. You watched as Dale Earnhardt was the only man who ever lived who could go 200 mph, spin somebody out, call them a you-know-what, and win the race, all in the last lap.

44. You skipped school or work to go to Dale Earnhardt’s memorial service.

45. A toboggan to you means a knit cap, not a sled.

83. Schools and churches hold barbecue fundraisers with banana puddin’ as the dessert.

84. After church you either stay for the barbeque lunch or the pig pickin'.

85. You know that barbeque is a food, not an occasion, and it applies to pork, not hamburgers or hot dogs. You also know that the best of any version, whether chopped or pulled, vinegar or tomato, can be found somewhere in NC.

This Is Really Jumbled

I hope y'all had a Happy Halloween! I'm not the best planner in the world and didn't have a costume Halloween day until 3 o'clock but I threw together a flapper costume and spent the night with my sisters. It was so fun!

Saturday afternoon we had a philanthropy mixer with FIJI (Phi Gamma Delta). It was so fun to take holiday and turn it into a way to help others. We donated everything to the local homeless shelter. Here I am making some goodie bags.

I'm sorry I've been a bit absent from my blog. I've been so busy with sorority stuff! Here are a few reasons why...

Friday night was initiation, one of my favorite sorority events of the year. I was balling my eyes out. It just means so much to me. I'm hoping one day my daughter will be a KayDee and I can go to her initiation. It's scary that I only have one more initiation left in my college career.

I've decided to run for Pledge Mom. Elections are November 9th, so I'll let you know how it goes. I'm running against some really great girls so I'm nervous. It's going to be a tight race!

I never introduced you to my little! She is the most adorable girl and I love her to death. She likes very girly things too, especially pink and green. It was a match made in heaven! Here are some of the things I made for her. I really appreciate everyone's help with ideas. Sorry they aren't the best pictures, I took them on my phone.

Big/Little revealing was so fun! Each night was a different night of presents and we gave our little a funny part of a costume to wear. Thursday all the sisters were hiding in tents and the littles had 30 seconds to run through and find the sister dressed the same as her. It was so fun! Here I am right after my little found me!

This is a picture of the bigs before all the littles came and found us. There were some hilarious outfits!

Phi Gamma Delta is the new fraternity on campus. We have been competing in a contest against all the other sororities on campus. There were several aspects of the contest such as referring the most gentlemen, being the most active, joining a Facebook group, spreading the word, etc. and Kappa Delta won! Here are some of us accepting our award. We are going to be putting it towards our Shamrock philanthropy event.

So, that's just a little idea of what's been keeping me busy. I'm sorry I haven't been commenting on blogs. For some reason when I click on your posts from my reader and want to leave a comment it says I'm not logged in but also won't let me long in? I don't know. Does anyone else have this problem?

Have a blessed day!

These Boots Are Made For Walkin'

One of the best things about fall.... BOOTS! Here are some of my favorites.

I tried these Seychelles boots on at a boutique in town and they were beautiful! Online they look "rough and tough," Harley-ish and cheap leather. However in real life they were a buttery leather with an English look and absolutely stunning!

I tried these Dolce Vita boots on and they are awesome as well. I wanted them last year but let them slip through my fingers. I love them though and think they are a great casual pair. They remind me of the red ones Jillian Harris wore on her date with Jake.

I've had these Charlie 1 Horse boots from Lucchese since high school and they just get better with age. I love the cognac color because they look great with everything.

Here's what I'm not a fan of:

Thigh High Boots

Moonboots

Moccasins

I think it is definitely worth it to invest in a good pair of boots that will last you forever! What boots are you dying for this season?

The Secret's Out...

...and it's JAKE! The pilot from Dallas. I loved him last season. He's such a gentleman and I would love to see him fall in love. I can't wait for January 6th.
